Just before 10 p.m. on September 7, 2024, Pittsburgh Fire responded to a 1-alarm residential structure fire in the 100 block of Minooka Street.
Firefighters located a 72-year-old female on the first floor of the home. Medics began life-saving measures while transporting her to the hospital in grave condition with severe burns and smoke inhalation.
She later succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
The Fire Investigation Unit found that the fire originated in the victim's bed on the first floor living room.
The exact cause of the fire is under investigation, but is believed to be accidental.
