Location: Zone 2
Summary:

Pittsburgh EMS, Fire, and Police responded to a report of window washers trapped on a stalled scaffolding platform outside 500 Ross Street at 11:35 a.m.

EMS Rescue 2 and Unit 5302 arrived on scene minutes later and confirmed two workers were trapped on the scaffolding structure between the seventh and eighth floors of the building after the platform lost power.

Paramedics from Rescue 2 went to the roof - along with building engineers - and over the next 60 minutes engineers were able to reset the system and bring the workers back safely up to the roof.

Additional EMS units staged on a lower roof area, ready to receive the scaffolding structure in the event it was lowered. Fire and Police were also on scene and assisted with blocking traffic on the affected part of Ross Street during the incident.

The rescue was successfully completed at 12:35 p.m.

Medics evaluated the workers who were not injured.
