THE CITY OF PITTSBURGH TO TEMPORARILY CLOSE NINE MILE RUN TRAIL FOR SOLAR REMEDIATION PROJECT
Trail to Close for Two Weeks Starting July 7
Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh and the Urban Redevelopment Authority are announcing a temporary closure of a portion of the Nine Mile Run Trail to accommodate the Swisshelm Park Solar Remediation Project. The closure will begin on Monday, July 7, 2025, and is expected to last through Friday, July 18, weather permitting.
The project team has significantly reduced the length of the closure from earlier estimates, and no construction truck traffic will travel on the trail. This adjustment minimizes disruption to trail users and ensures that the trail remains accessible for the majority of the remediation project.
“We appreciate the public’s patience as we complete this important work,” said Mayor Ed Gainey. “By prioritizing both environmental remediation and recreational access, this project reflects our commitment to a healthier, more sustainable Pittsburgh.”
Trail users are encouraged to plan alternate routes during the brief closure. Updates will be provided if weather or project conditions change the expected schedule.
