Citywide Yard Waste Collection Moved Up to April 18, 2026

Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh has moved the spring 2026 yard debris collection up by one week to Saturday, April 18, 2026. It was moved from its original date of April 25 due to challenges with the NFL Draft and other special events throughout the City.  

Yard waste must follow the below guidelines, which are also available on Environmental Services’ website and on the annual Collection Schedule and Newsletter, but note that the April 25 collection will now be Saturday, April 18, 2026. 

Yard debris MUST be placed at the curb before 6 AM on collection day. 

Branches must be tied and bundled with natural fiber, twine or rope.  

Accepted Yard Debris in Paper Bags (No Plastic):  

  • Leaves
  • Branches (under 5 feet in length /4 inches in diameter)                                                                                        
  • Brush
  • Grass  

Waste NOT accepted:  

  • Plastic bags
  • Metal or wire
  • Rocks, blocks, bricks, and ceramics 
  • Dirt or gravel 
  • Glass, metal, or plastic  
  • Manure 
  • Trash
  • Recycling 

Debris that does not follow guidelines will be left at the curb.  

Yard debris can also be dropped off at three Department of Public Works locations: 

  • (East End) DPW Second Division at 6814 Hamilton Avenue, 15208 
  • (Hazelwood) DPW Third Division at 40 Melanchton Street, 15207 
  • (West End) DPW Fifth Division at 1330 Hassler Street, 15220
