Published on April 13, 2026
Pittsburgh, PA – The City of Pittsburgh’s Independence Day Celebration has been selected as a nominee for the USA TODAY 10BEST Readers’ Choice Awards, with the annual patriotic celebration and fireworks spectacular being announced as a contender for the “Best 4th of July Celebration” category. Voting begins Monday, April 13, 2026, at 12 p.m. EDT, and individuals can vote once per day through 11:59 a.m. on Monday, May 11.
The Independence Day Celebration, organized by the CitiParks Office of Special Events since 2020, delights tens of thousands of local residents and visitors each summer with music from national and local talent, eats from area food trucks, a family fun zone, a veterans wellness hub, and even a hot air balloon. Across Point State Park, the North Shore, and Grandview Park Bandstand, Pittsburgh’s storied skyline views provide a backdrop for the event’s finale, one of the most anticipated fireworks shows of the year.
“Being nominated to the USA TODAY 10BEST for 4th of July Celebrations is a proud moment for Pittsburgh as we prepare for America’s 250th birthday,” says Department of Parks and Recreation program manager Brandon D’Alimonte. “This nomination shows Pittsburgh’s 4th of July celebration is about more than just fireworks. The event brings people of all backgrounds together in our public spaces, while also supporting local businesses, artists and partners who help make it possible. I’m incredibly grateful for the CitiParks team and community partners who work year-round to plan and deliver the celebration. Being recognized on a national level reflects the tremendous collaboration behind the event and the real social and economic impact it has for our city.”
Winners are set to be announced on the 10Best website on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 12 p.m. EDT.
