CoP Observing Juneteenth; Office Closures, Adjusted Refuse schedule

Pittsburgh, PA – In observance of Juneteenth National Freedom Day on Thursday, June 19, 2025, the City of Pittsburgh offices and facilities will be closed. This includes all City offices and CitiParks facilities, but the pools and spray parks will be open. Additionally, there will be no refuse, bulk waste, or recycling collection on Thursday, June 19. 

To accommodate residents, the refuse collection schedule will be adjusted as follows: 

  • Thursday, June 19 collection will occur on Friday, June 20
  • Friday, June 20 collection will occur on Saturday, June 21

Residents are reminded to place their refuse, recycling, and bulk waste containers at the curb no earlier than 6 p.m. the evening before their rescheduled collection day and no later than 6 a.m. on the day of collection. Containers must be removed from the collection site by 10 p.m. on the day of collection.

The following CitiParks facilities will be impacted from Wednesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 22, 2025:  

HEALTHY ACTIVE LIVING CENTERS      

• CLOSED – Thursday, June 19, 2025   

• Regular schedule resumes on Friday, June 20, 2025  

RECREATION CENTERS    

• CLOSED – Thursday, June 19, 2025   

• Regular schedule resumes on Friday, June 20, 2025   

MELLON PARK TENNIS CENTER   

• CLOSED -- Wednesday, June 18 through Sunday, June 22, 2025  

SCHENLEY PARK RINK  

• CLOSED – Thursday, June 19, 2025  

SWIMMING POOLS  

• OPEN -Thursday, June 19, 2025  

Ammon, Bloomfield, Highland, Jack Stack, Magee, Moore, Ormsby, Phillips, Ream, Banksville, West Penn, Riverview, Schenley*, and Westwood will operate on Holiday Hours: 12-1 PM Adult Lap Swim with 1-5:45 PM as Open Swim while Open Swim hours at McBride and Sue Murray are 12-4:34PM 

Note: Due to capacity limitations, Adult Lap Swim is not available at Schenley Park Pool.
