City Awarded $550,000 from Shapiro Administration for Community Recreation and Conversation Projects

Pittsburgh, PA – Mayor Corey O’Connor announced today that the Shapiro Administration has awarded the City of Pittsburgh $500,000 for the rehabilitation of Fort Pitt Park in Garfield and $50,000 for a study to further develop the Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The funding comes from the Community Conservation Partnership Programs (C2P2) grants program through the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

“I’d like to thank the Shapiro Administration for another great investment in the future of our communities,” said Mayor O’Connor. “This funding will help us update a community park for the kids, residents and families in Garfield and study how we can connect and expand the popular Three Rivers Heritage Trail.”

The C2P2 grant program is managed by the DCNR Bureau of Recreation and Conservation and aims to build connections between Pennsylvanians and the outdoors by supporting recreational improvements, natural resource conservation and community revitalization.
