CONSTRUCTION TO RESUME ON DAVIS AVENUE BRIDGE IN BRIGHTON HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD
As Pittsburgh’s newest bridge nears completion residents can expect traffic detours
Pittsburgh, PA –Work has resumed on the Davis Avenue bridge connecting Brighton Heights with Riverview Park. This new bridge is part of the city’s larger mission to provide residents with connections to neighborhood parks like Riverview Park.
Construction work began this week as the contractor prepares the site for delivery of a steel truss which was being fabricated off-site through the winter. In order to lift the truss and towers into place, Woods Run Avenue will be closed to all through traffic beginning Monday, March 24th. The closure is expected to remain in effect for a minimum of two-weeks while the contractor installs the towers and each of the three spans.
A suggested detour route utilizes Brighton Road, Marshall Avenue, Perrysville Avenue, and Mairdale Avenue. See below:

Once completed this Spring, the Davis Ave bridge will reduce walking time to the park from Brighton Heights from 35 minutes to five. Additionally, the new bridge will create a safe pathway for cyclists and pedestrians to enter the park.
"Rebuilding the Davis Avenue Bridge is a critical step in reconnecting our North Side neighborhoods and making it safer and easier for residents to move throughout the city.” said Mayor Ed Gainey “I know construction can be disruptive, but this project is about progress—bringing long-overdue investment back to the Brighton Heights community. I appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to deliver a bridge that will serve Pittsburghers for generations to come"
