“Pittsburghers love to celebrate Halloween and all of the fun annual community traditions for our kids, families and neighbors,” said Mayor O’Connor. “I want to thank the community organizations who host events and our whole City and CitiParks team for being creative and coming up with fun new ways to bring our neighborhoods together. Let’s all do our part to make sure our kids have a safe and fun Halloween.”

The City recommends the following safety tips for trick-or-treaters:

  • Include reflective tape, stickers or clip-on lights on costumes and bags for visibility
  • Make sure children can properly see through masks or make-up for safe street crossing
  • Check costumes to make sure there aren’t obstructions that could cause trips or falls
  • Keep an eye on the weather forecast and dress appropriately for a more comfortable evening
  • Walk on sidewalks rather than in the streets, watch for vehicles and parents should assist children when crossing streets
  • Carry lights or flashlights for additional visibility

Anyone driving during the trick-or-treat hours must use additional caution, care and vigilance. Slow down and increase your awareness of trick-or-treaters.
