The Pittsburgh Summer Youth Employment Program (PSYEP) is a six-week summer employment program that places young City residents in employment with the City to gain valuable work experience, earn wages and contribute to Pittsburgh's economic growth. The program will begin July 2 and continue through August 10, and is available to City of Pittsburgh residents between the ages of 14 and 21. Youths will be assigned to perform outdoor work, including restoration and conservation of City parks, public property and vacant lots, and internships, including general office work in a variety of local businesses. College Success 101, a Guide for High School Students Seminar

Mayor Luke Ravenstahl has announced a partnership with local colleges and universities to reach out to graduating seniors, encouraging them to “pick Pittsburgh” post-graduation. In a letter sent via email to the thousands of graduating seniors at Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Pittsburgh, Point Park University and the Community College of Allegheny County, Ravenstahl reminded students of the great reasons to begin their career and make a positive community impact in Pittsburgh. posted 4/10/12 @ 12:00 am
The Civic LEAF Academy
This month, Mayor Ravenstahl is initializing a new program, called The Civic LEAF Academy. Leaders for an Environmentally Alternative Future (LEAF) will participate in the five-week program that engages middle, high school and college students in annual green-themed programs. The program’s three sectors include, “Sprout” for middle school students, “Cultivate” for high school students, and “Grow” for college students. Application coming soon posted 4/04/12 @ 1:40 pm
