There are a number of ways to join the Promise Coaches Campaign as an individual, or with your organization.
1. Become a Promise Coach
Every young person deserves to have a caring adult who can help them succeed in school and in life. Become a Promise Coach, and be a driving force to help young people achieve their educational goals. We'll train you so you can coach them, and together, we'll support student success and make a difference in the lives of thousands of Pittsburgh youth.
Organizations can apply to host a Promise Coaches Workshop, in which community members are trained to be effective coaches. Organizations must identify a suitable location for training, and must have 20-25 interested trainees.
The Promise Coaches Campaign is now seeking organizational partners to help implement the Campaign. Organizations must host Promise Coaches workshops, distribute related materials, and act as a resource for Mayor Ravenstahl's Promise Coaches Campaign within their community.
Anchor Agencies must:
Assign one staff member as a liason to the Promise Coaches Campaign. This staff member must attend a 90 minute training session.
Support promotion of the campaign by connecting with other anchor agencies and community organizations, and displaying Promise Coaches promotional materials.
Procure a location for holding training workshops. Locations must comfortably hold 20-25 people, have adequate lighting and climate control, include access to a laptop/computer with internet and a projector. Locations must have regular weekend or evening hours, and be handicapped accessible. A location with child care availability for the duration of the training is preferrable.
