There are a number of ways to join the Promise Coaches Campaign.
1. Host a Workshop
Organizations can apply to host a Promise Coaches Workshop, in which community members are trained to be effective coaches. Organizations must identify a suitable location for training, and must have a minimum of 20-25 interested trainees.
Every young person deserves to have a caring adult who can help them succeed in school and in life. Become a Promise Coach, and be a driving force to help young people achieve their educational goals. We'll train you so you can coach them, and together, we'll support student success and make a difference in the lives of thousands of Pittsburgh youth.
The Promise Coaches Campaign is now seeking organizational partners to help implement the Campaign. Organizations must host Promise Coaches workshops, distribute related materials, and act as a resource for the Promise Coaches Campaign within their community. As a result of a community organization’s participation as a community partner, they will be reimbursed for their recruitment efforts.
Community Partners must:
Assign one staff member as a liaison to the Promise Coaches Campaign. This staff member must attend a 90 minute training session.
Support promotion of the campaign by connecting with other community organizations, and displaying Promise Coaches promotional materials.
Identify a location for holding training workshops. Locations should comfortably hold at least 25 people, and have a computer with internet access and a projector. Locations must have regular weekend or evening hours, and be handicapped accessible.
Identify and provide personnel and space that can be used for child care during training.
Set a goal for training at least 100 Promise Coaches.
Host 5-7 workshops in a 6 month period, through coordination with Promise Coaches staff
Provide basic supplies such as markers and paper, and light refreshments.
