Mayor Ravenstahl's servePGH
Summer 2013 Youth Civic Leadership Academy Application

Dear Neighbors,

Youth have always been a powerful driving force behind progress. It is important to prepare them to become community leaders who influence positive changes in their communities through participation in local government.

I am pleased to announce the third annual Youth Civic Leadership Academy in the City of Pittsburgh, a free summer program that provides an interactive opportunity for high school students to learn about their local government. Through a three-week series of fun and engaging tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities, students will become familiar with our system of local government, examining the functions of the Mayor’s Office, Fire and Police Bureaus,  the Urban Redevelopment Authority and more. This unique course will offer students a chance explore the variety of opportunities for public service and the potential for developing their leadership.

Please take a few minutes to look over the application and Frequently Asked Questions, which includes helpful information about how you can participate. More information about the program is also available at pittsburghpa.gov/servepgh/ycla I encourage you to take advantage of this exciting opportunity!

Sincerely,

Luke Ravenstahl
