Mayor Urges Residents, Businesses To Prepare For Possible Flood Event
Mayor Luke Ravenstahl warned those who are located within the low-lying areas as indicated by the flood plain maps to prepare now for an increased threat of flooding this weekend.
"We have been given as much advanced warning as possible that a flood is highly likely to occur this weekend," Ravenstahl said. "If you haven't already done so, prepare now, elevate items in your basement, protect your utilities and prepare your 72-hour All-Emergency kit. Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and help to make sure they have the support that they need to get through this very serious situation."

According to the National Weather Service, extensive snowmelt is expected from Tuesday through Friday. The ground will be saturated from the melting snow when significant rain is anticipated to begin Thursday into the weekend. The rain combined with melting snow in the mountains will raise river levels.
The extent of the flooding will greatly depend on the amount of rainfall that occurs across the forecasted area. Flood watches and warnings may be issued later in the week.
