(PITTSBURGH) Feb. 8, 2010 City Public Works Crews continued their snow removal operations throughout the evening today and by noontime tomorrow they will have reached nearly all of the City’s secondary roads.
“Our employees have worked so hard, and our plan to bring in additional resources to help them get the job done has worked,” Ravenstahl said. “Throughout the night we will be using additional contractors in helping us get to more streets and I believe we will be well positioned to deal with tomorrow’s storm.”
Since the Mayor called publicly for individual contractors, City procurement specialists executed several contracts.
City 311 staff will continue to work with public safety personnel and PA National Guardsmen to take care of citizens in need of transportation. Today, 17 citizens were taken to dialysis appointments, 8 were assisted in prescription refills, and several more were checked on to assure well being.
“We will continue to check on our seniors to make sure they are getting to any urgent medical appointments, and assisting them with anything else they need to stay safe and healthy,” Ravenstahl said.
