Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's Taking Care Business Program and BikePGH's Small Business Program have teamed up to provide free bike racks outside of small businesses located within the City's business districts. As part of this program, the City will own, install and maintain these bike racks.
Thank you for your interest and commitment in making Pittsburgh a more bike-friendly city! We have received numerous requests, and they are handled on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, it may take two months or more before we can assess new requests. Thank you for your patience!
If you do not meet the requirements for this program, you can purchase bike racks directly from Bike Pittsburgh. Please contact racks@bike-pgh.org for more information.
Please note: In order to place a bike rack request, please have the property owner that houses the small business complete the form below. Once the form has been submitted, the City's Bike/Pedestrian Coordinator will then perform a site assessment of the location to consider pedestrian traffic, ADA compliance, customer flow, parallel parking and existing street furniture. During the site assessment, the City's Bike/Pedestrian Coordinator will determine, based on customer flow, whether one or two racks should be installed. If the City finds that the location fits all of the applicable requirements, then the City's Department of Public Works will install a bike rack, subject to the City's discretion to remove it at any time.
