The Mayor's office staff has engaged thousands of residents from all neighborhoods through neighborhood forums, Neighborhood Summit and community roundtables. Staff regularly attends more than 50 neighborhood community meetings per month keeping the lines open between our residents and City government. These meetings provide the opportunity for the Mayor and his staff to listen firsthand to citizen concerns, follow-up on constituent issues with the proper City departments, help solve critical neighborhood issues, work to develop revitalization and growth strategies for the future and to inform groups of programs and initiatives that are available.

The Mayor's Office coordinates sweeps in neighborhoods upon request from the community. Teams of City employees from various City departments and authorities, such as the Department of Public Works (DPW), the Bureau of Building Inspection (BBI), the Bureau of Police, the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) and Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) work to address neighborhood complaints and concerns by spending up to one week in the neighborhood focusing on outstanding 311 complaints, graffiti removal, line and curb painting, pothole patching, sidewalk repairs, code enforcement, vacant lot maintenance and de-cluttering of utility poles, wires and news-racks.
To request a neighborhood sweep, please contact:

311 is the City's phone number for government information and non-emergency services for residents to share comments, questions and concerns about their neighborhood. Once a complaint is logged into the database, it is then sent out to the City department for action. Using the Service Request number provided at the time of contacting 311, residents can later follow-up with 311 to check on the status of the question, comment or complaint.
Hours of Operation Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
