Mayor Luke Ravenstahl will visit the Clinton School of Public Service in Little Rock, AR on June 5, 2007. He will be the William J. Clinton Distinguished Lecturer at the school on June 5, as part of the Faces of the Future series. The series, hosted by the Clinton School with the Political Animals Club of Little Rock, showcases up-and-coming young political talent from across the United States. The mayor will speak about his career in public service.
"With our distinguished group of speakers, the Clinton School has become a place where ideas, information and concepts are fostered and exchanged. We are expanding the meaning of public service in a continual effort to reach a broader cross-section of society," said Patrick J. D. Kennedy, director of public programs and visiting speakers at the Clinton School.
Speakers at the University have included Pulitzer Prize winners, former vice presidents, secretary of states, and US Ambassadors, along with CEOs, renowned journalists and world leaders. The personal request for Ravenstahl to speak at the event puts the young mayor at the prestigious level with names such as Albright, Bloomberg, Quayle, and Clinton.
The Mayor's schedule will include a tour of the School and Clinton Library. He will also be interviewed for the Clinton School Journal the first ever journal/magazine by the School. Other contributors to the journal include President Fernando Cardoso, Karl Rove, David Eisenhower and George Stephanopoulos.
Founded in 1983 by Skip Rutherford, dean of the Clinton School, the Political Animals Club is a monthly non-partisan forum for political dialogue in Little Rock.
The Clinton School of Public Service is an independent entity of the University of Arkansas System, working in collaboration with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
