I urge you to attend and voice your opinion at an upcoming Public Hearing on City Council Bill 2011-1611, a resolution providing for the designation as a Historic Structure for the Civic Arena.
The public hearing will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, at the Social Hall of Epiphany Catholic Church at 184 Washington Place.
Since I have been involved in the Arena deliberations, I have continually stated that my principal decision making factor is to do what has the optimal economic and social benefit for the residents of Pittsburgh, particularly those of the Hill District. I believe that by demolishing the arena, we have the opportunity to ensure that thousands of family sustaining jobs and millions in future tax revenue would be created through the redevelopment of the Lower Hill site. Not to mention our ability to rebuild the amputated half of our community, reconnect it to its upper half, and resuscitate the entire Hill District. However, City Council now needs to hear from you!
If you are interested in providing public comment, please contact the City Clerk at 412-255-2138 by 2:00 pm on May 23, 2011. You must register to receive 3 minutes to speak. If you do not register you can still speak, but will only be allotted 1 minute. Please share this information with your friends and neighbors.
