In February 2013, the Urban Redevelopment Authority received funding from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development to implement the Residential Façade Program. This program targets neighborhoods where significant public investments in housing/residential developments have already taken place. The targeted neighborhoods include specific Central Northside, the Upper Hill District, Manchester, Polish Hill, Arlington and Garfield. The program provides homeowners with a 50% match of their façade costs with a maximum grant of $5,000.
The URA will partner with the Community Design Center of Pittsburgh to develop basic guidelines to give to participating homeowners, which will assist them in deciding how to best improve their façade.
