DISTRICT 6 COMMUNITY EVENTS - OCTOBER

Greetings,

There are many exciting things happening throughout District 6 this month!  I have listed many events and community meetings below, so you can become more engaged with our office as well as the many events and meetings that are happening in your community.

Tuesday, October 2nd - Our office is hosting a City Council Post-Agenda Hearing on Latino Relations in the City of Pittsburgh at 2:00 pm in City Council Chambers.  All interested in Latino Relations in the City of Pittsburgh are encouraged to attend.  City Council Chambers are located at 510 City-County Building, 414 Grant Street, 5th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Tuesday, October 2nd - There will be a public neighborhood meeting for all residents of West Oakland and Oak Hill communities from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm at The Corner, located at 200 Robinson Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.  There will be various discussion regarding construction traffic in West Oakland and upcoming events in the neighborhood.

Thursday, October 4th - There will be a public meeting regarding Bus Rapid Transit in the Uptown community, this meeting will be at UPMC Mercy, located at 1400 Locust Street, 2nd Floor, Building D, from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Thursday, October 4th - Our office is hosting a public meeting for Downtown residents at Gateway Towers from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, located at 320 Fort Duquesne Boulevard, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Thursday, October 4th - There will be a Northside Public Safety Council meeting starting at 5:30 pm at 4 Allegheny Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.  All Northside residents concerned with public safety in their neighborhood should be in attendance.

Friday, October 5th - Our office in partnership with Mayor Luke Ravenstahl is hosting a 'Fair in Market Square' in honor of Hispanic Heritage Week in the City of Pittsburgh.  This fair will host various Latino/Hispanic bands, vendors, and exhibitions in Market Square, Downtown Pittsburgh from 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm.

Saturday, October 6th - Our office in partnership with State Representative Jake Wheatley, Jr., North Shore Community Alliance, Urban Innovation 21, Point Park University, Black Political Empowerment Project, and the National Coalition for Urban Justice and Peace will hold an employment & resource fair from 12:00 pm - 6:00 pm.  This fair will take place at Point Park University's Student Activities Center, 330 Blvd. of the Allies, 5th Floor Gymnasium, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.  All are encouraged to attend.

Monday, October 8th - There will be an Oakland Community Council meeting from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at People's Oakland, located at 3433 Bates Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.  This meeting is for all Oakland residents, business owners and stakeholders with questions and concerns about your neighborhood.

Monday, October 8th - There will be a Central Northside Neighborhood Council meeting from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Allegheny Traditional Academy, located at 810 Arch Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.  All Central Northside residents, business owners and stakeholders should be in attendance.

Tuesday, October 9th - There will be a District 6 remote office visit at the Northside Coalition for Fair Housing, located at 1821 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15212 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.

Wednesday, October 10th - There will be a District 6 remote office visit at Community Human Services Building in South Oakland, located at 374 Lawn Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.  The Oakcliffe Housing Club will meet immediately after at the same location from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

Thursday, October 11th - There will be a District 6 mobile office visit at Manchester Citizen's Corporation, located at 1319 Allegheny Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.

Thursday, October 11th - There will be a Hill District Consensus Group meeting at 5:30 pm at the Kauffman Auditorium, located at 1835 Centre Avenue in the Hill District.  All Hill District residents, business owners and stakeholders should be in attendance.

Sunday, October 14th - Our office in partnership with State Representative Jake Wheatley, Jr., Thelma Lovette Y, UPMC, Highmark, Pittsburgh Penguins, RS Supply, LLC., and the Pennsylvania State Police will host a Citywide Health Expo at the Thelma Lovette Y from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm.  There will be healthy cooking demonstrations, prizes, and various activities for youth and adults.  All are encouraged to attend.

Monday, October 22nd - Our office in partnership with the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh will host a community meeting regarding Allegheny Dwellings at 6:30 pm.  The location is TBD, please give us a call at 412-255-2134 for more information as it becomes available.

Monday, October 22nd - There will be a membership meeting for the Perry Hilltop Citizens Council from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, the location is TBD, please give us a call at 412-255-2134 for more information as it becomes available.  All concerned residents, business owners, and stakeholders of the Perry Hilltop community should be in attendance.

Thursday, October 25th - The Zone 2 Public Safety Council will hold a membership meeting from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Hill House, Conference Room A, located at 1835 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.  All who reside in the Zone 2 Police Zone (Downtown, Hill District, Uptown, Polish Hill, Lawrenceville) and interested in public safety in their neighborhood should be in attendance.
