I would like to announce that the 2013 Mainstreets Pittsburgh application for Keystone Communities Main Street funding is now available. The Mainstreets Pittsburgh program is a comprehensive, holistic approach to business district revitalization. It is based on the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s Four Point Main Street Approach which are economic restructuring, promotion, design, and sustainable organization. The Keystone Communities Mainstreets grant is funded primarily through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Main Street program.
Any business district group in the City can apply. However, please note that, in each application, the applicant has to show evidence of a one to one dollar match for their project. This match has to be already in place before the application will be considered.
There are three categories in which to apply:
1. Keystone Main Street Planning
2. Keystone Main Street Development
3. Keystone Communities Designation
The first two are funding programs, and the third is an opportunity to be awarded designation as either a Keystone Main Street or Keystone Community neighborhood.
