District 6 Community Events- November

Greetings,

There are many exciting things happening throughout District 6 this month!  Following are numerous events and community meetings I will be participating in. I encourage you to attend, so you can become more engaged with our office.

Thursday, November 8th- There will be a District 6 remote office visit at the Manchester Citizens Corporation at 1319 Allegheny Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.

Wednesday, November 14th- There will be a District 6 remote site office visit at the Community Human Services Corporation at 374 Lawn Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 at 6:00pm. Please attend, as this is an opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.  The monthly Oakcliffe Housing Club meeting will take place immediately after at 7:00 pm.

Thursday, November 15th- Pittsburgh Public Schools will be hosting a “State of the District” public community meeting. For those interested, the event will take place at the Pittsburgh High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) at 111 9th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15222 starting at 5:30 pm.

Thursday, November 15th- The Hill District Community Development Center will be having a meeting on upcoming plans for the New Granada block at 6:00 pm at the Hill House on 1835 Centre Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. To RSVP, contact the Hill Community Development Corporation at 412-765-1820

Thursday, November 15th- The August Wilson Center for African American Culture will host a release party for the release of a multimedia booklet of interviews with thirty-six African American men during interview sessions held in Homewood (YMCA Lighthouse Project), Hazelwood (Center of Life) and the Hill District (University Prep at Pittsburgh Milliones 6-12). To attend, guests must RSVP by November 12 at http://tinyurl.com/crossingfences or call 412-586-6300 ext 1. The event will start at 6:00 pm at the August Wilson Center, located at 980 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Tuesday, November 20th- For those in the community and interested in improving the West Oakland neighborhood, there will be an Oak Hill community meeting taking place at 6:00 pm at the Wadsworth Community Center at 480 Oak Hill Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.

Monday, November 26th- For all Perry Hilltop residents, a community meeting will be taking place at Angel’s Place, located at 2615 Norwood Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15214. The community meeting is set to begin at 7:00 pm.

Monday, November 26th- There will be a District 6 remote site office visit will at the Hill Carnegie Library from 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm. The library is located at 2177 Centre Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.  Please attend to speak with me and ask questions, address concerns or state ideas to help improve District 6.
