DISTRICT 6 COMMUNITY EVENTS - SEPTEMBER

Greetings,

There are many exciting things happening throughout District 6 this month!  I have listed many events and community meetings below, so you can become more engaged with our office as well as the many events and meetings that are happening in your community.

Tuesday, September 4th - There will be a community meeting from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm regarding the vision plan for Schenley Heights at Grace Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1000 Bryn Mawr Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.  All community members interested in finding out more information about new housing in the Upper Hill District should be in attendance.

Wednesday, September 5th - There will be a community meeting regarding the Hill District's Centre Avenue RFP Process from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Kauffman Auditorium, 1835 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.  Come out and learn about next steps as well as see the presentations for proposed development along Centre Avenue.

Thursday, September 6th - There will be a Northside Public Safety Meeting starting at 5:30 pm at 4 Allegheny Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.  All Northside residents concerned with public safety in their neighborhoods should be in attendance.

Friday, September 7th - The Zone 2 Public Safety Council will hold it's first "Family Movie Night" at the Bedford Hope Center from 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm, located at 2305 Bedford Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. The Zone 2 Council oversees public safety initiatives for Downtown, Hill District, Uptown, Polish Hill and Lawrenceville neighborhoods in the City of Pittsburgh.

Saturday, September 8th - Our office is supporting State Representative Jake Wheatley, Jr's Community Appreciation Day in Kennard Park from 10 am - 8pm.  There will be food, games, vendors, and activities for the entire family.  Kennard Park is located between Kirkpatrick and Reed Streets in the Hill District.

Saturday, September 8th - Our office is supporting Northside Coalition for Fair Housing's Women's Walk for Peace in West Park on the Northside from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm.  There will be food, games, vendors, and activities for the entire family.  There will also be a live performance by two-time Grammy award winning musicians "Arrested Development".

Saturday, September 10th - There will be an Oakland Community Council meeting at People's Oakland, located at 3433 Bates Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213.  This meeting is for all Oakland residents, business owners and stakeholders with quesitons and concerns about your neighborhood.

Tuesday, September 11th - There will be a District 6 remote office visit at the Northside Coalition for Fair Housing, located at 1821 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA  15212 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.

Wednesday, September 12th - There will be a District 6 mobile office visit at Community Human Services Building in South Oakland, located at 374 Lawn Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15213 from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.  The Oakclife Housing Club will meet immediately after at the same location from 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm.

Wednesday, September 12th - There will be a Downtown Neighbor's Association meeting for all residents of Downtown Pittsburgh, the location is TBA.  This is an open meeting to discuss various happenings and Downtown Pittsburgh resident concerns.

Thursday, September 13th - There will be a District 6 mobile office visit at Manchester Citizens Corporation, located at 1319 Allegheny Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15233 from 5:30 pm - 7:00 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.

Wednesday, September 19th - There will be an 'OakWatch' meeting for all residents, business owners, and stakeholders of the Oakland community from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, location is TBA.  This is an open meeting to discuss all questions and concerns regarding the Oakland community.

Thursday, September 20th - There will be a public meeting regarding the historic district designation expansion of the Mexican War Streets.  This meeting will be held from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at the Northside Institutional Church, located at 302 West North Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15212.

Monday, September 24th - There will be a District 6 mobile office visit at the Carnegie Library - Hill District Branch, located at 2177 Centre Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 from 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm.  This is an open opportunity for you to speak to me directly regarding any questions, concerns, or ideas that you may have to help improve District 6.

Monday, September 25th - There will be a membership meeting for the Perry Hilltop Citizens Council from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Angel's Place, located at 2615 Norwood Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15214.  All concerned residents, and business owners of the Perry Hilltop community should be in attendance.

Thursday, September 27th - The Zone 2 Public Safety Council will hold a membership meeting at the Bedford Hope Center, located at 2305 Bedford Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.  All who reside in the Zone 2 Police Zone (Downtown, Hill District, Uptown, Polish Hill, Lawrenceville) and interested in public safety in their neighborhoods should be in attendance.
