City of Pittsburgh Council District 6
ALLEGHENY COUNTY PROPERTY REASSESSMENTS
Hill District Education Outreach Session on the Assessment Process

Greetings,

Allegheny County is undergoing a judicially mandated county-wide property reassessment.  This includes properties within the City of Pittsburgh, and all properties will be reassessed.  The assessment of each property will aim to reflect its market value for 2012.  The value is supposed to be determined by what is on the Property Report Card, an assessor's valuation of the property from the outside, the condition of the neighborhood, recent sales of the property, and recent sales of comparable properties.

Mayor Ravenstahl's office has scheduled a series of education outreach sessions to educate the public on the reassessment process.  A session has been scheduled for tomorrow, January 10, 2012 at 10:00 am and at 6:00 pm., and will take place at the Kaufman Center Auditorium, 1825 Centre Avenue, next door to the Hill House.  It is highly recommended that all residents with questions about the reassessment process and how to appeal your assessment attend the outreach session.  For information on the other outreach dates, please contact our office at 412-255-2134.

Please note that property owners in the City of Pittsburgh have until January 13, 2012, to request an informal review by calling 412-350-4600.  Property owners, along with the school and municipality, also have the right to file a 2012 formal appeal with the Board of Property Assessment Appeals & Review until February 10, 2012.  You may file a 2012 formal appeal by February 10, 2012.  You may acquire an appeal form by calling 412-350-4600 or by clicking here.

Regards,

R. Daniel Lavelle
