On Sunday morning, September 30, a record field of 15,000 runners and walkers will take to the streets of Pittsburgh for the 35th running of the Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race presented by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
The 10K run – which will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Beechwood Blvd. in Frick Park – will follow a predominantly downhill course along Fifth Avenue and the Blvd. of the Allies to Point State Park in downtown Pittsburgh. A 5K run and walk – beginning at 8:00 a.m. – will start at Fifth Avenue and Atwood Street in Oakland and follow the same route as the 10K to the finish line.
Race organizers have announced the following schedule of STREET CLOSINGS for Sunday morning, September 30:
Start Line at Beechwood Boulevard to Forbes and Morewood avenues will close to traffic at 8:30 a.m. and open at approximately 9:45 a.m.
Forbes and Morewood avenues to Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Boulevard will close to traffic at 8:30 a.m. and open at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Fifth Avenue and Bigelow Blvd. to Fifth Avenue at Boulevard of the Allies Slip Ramp will close to traffic at 6:30 a.m. and open at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Boulevard of the Allies at McDevitt Place to Wood Street to Ft. Pitt Boulevard to Commonwealth Place will close to traffic at 6:30 a.m. and open at approximately 11 a.m.
Commonwealth Place at Liberty Avenue will close to traffic on Sunday, Sept. 30, from 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.
