Welcome to the City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Building Inspection!
The Bureau of Building Inspection's mission is to provide life safety and a better quality of living to the residents of the City of Pittsburgh. The Bureau of Building Inspection (BBI) falls under the Department of Public Safety and works closely with the other Public Safety Bureaus (Police and Fire) and Department of City Planning's Zoning Department.
Many cities have different methods of organizing their departments. We have worked hard to present our services in an intuitive layout on our site. If you have any questions, or would like to speak with someone in person, call our main phone line: 412-255-2175
BBI's offices are open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Inspectors are available in the office from 8:00 am to 10:00 am and are in the field for the remainder of the day.
